The number 8 plays a role in many major religions worldwide. The Dharma Wheel, left, represents the Buddhist Eightfold Path to peace and self-awakening. In Judaism, there are eight days of observance of the Chanukah, Sukkot and Passover holidays. The Brit Milah, the circumcision of male Jewish children, takes place on the eighth day of life. In Christianity, there are eight Beatitudes. |
